A project that is an extraordinary storytelling
Mazzoleni started a study to explore various yeast strains to identify one with distinctive characteristics. The study initially involved the genetic, chemico-physical and microbiological characteristics of yeasts. After this first selection, tests were set to evaluate production efficiency, stability, and efficacy.
The ideal strain was identified and named Saccharomyces cerevisiae DBVPG 48 SF, which was deposited at a certified yeast culture collection. BioCell® was born. Mazzoleni begins the process of applying for the additive’s authorization with the European Community.
At the end of 2023 BioCell® has been authorized for all dairy ruminants, Pigs and Horses.
A favorable opinion from EFSA was also obtained for other ruminants. The authorization regulation will be published by the beginning of 2025.
